SELF
SACRIFICE
This piece is performed as a ritual of sacrifice. A female performer volunteers to execute the ritual that will redeem everyone's' sins. Full of self-importance, she leaps to the stage, presenting herself as their hero.
This solo piece reflects on "victimization" and "heroism" through the eyes of Western culture, religion, and art. It deals with the issue of self-sacrifice for the well-being of society. The moment someone volunteers to do so, they must consider the consequences of their actions, which might lead to the erasure of their free will and the loss of self.
The solo premiered in 2018 at the choreography center "Kelim" in Israel.
